You’ve gotta love Jean Paul Gaultier for keeping the image of Amy Winehouse alive. Amy was the inspiration for his latest collection because he loved not only her unique style, but the way she put her clothes together and the colors she mixed. Of course the models sashaying down the runway all had towering beehives and black eyeliner and many were puffing on cigarettes. But no beat-up ballet slippers. It made us miss Amy all over again.

We loved writing about the soap opera life of Amy Winehouse before she tragically died of alcohol poisoning last July, and we appreciated her original style. In the five years after she released her huge album “Back to Black” she didn’t seem to do much singing, but 12 songs from various recording sessions over the last decade, including a duet with Tony Bennett, are featured in her new posthumous album released today. The album, “Lioness: Hidden Treasures,” is getting good reviews and reminds us of what a one-of-a-kind talent we lost.

While Amy Winehouse’s unfortunate exhusband Blake Fielder-Civil has been languishing in jail, he’s been thinking about writing a book about his romance and two year marriage with Amy. Blake is currently incarcerated for burglary and gun charges, so he has a lot of time to think. Publishers are probably buzzing around him because he also has a lot of photos and filmed footage of Amy that he’s never shared. They divorced in 2009. This could be a life changing opportunity for Blake who’s been accused of getting Amy into hard drugs. At the very least it could be another “Sid & Nancy” story.

The legend that was Amy Winehouse is attracting throngs of fans to the Camden Square house where she died. By day, her fans from around the world leave gifts and flowers and weep and commiserate about their loss. But at night the crowd is different – rowdy boozers play music, sing, dance and fight and smoke. Sometimes they swill from bottles left at Amy’s shrine. The high-as-a-kite after hours people party all night in front of her house and often tangle with cops, but they insist “It’s what Amy would have wanted.”

It’s a really bad day when you wake up and find out Amy Winehouse died. Of course, we all half expected Amy to go this way – she hadn’t been able to get her act together for years. Her last boyfriend was Reg Traviss, but she hadn’t been seen with him lately. She will always be a true original – from her beehive down to her scuffed ballet slippers. Amy always looked like she got her fashion inspiration from Cholas in Los Angeles. All her problems, yearning for love, struggling with alcohol and drugs, were apparent in her exquisite songs. Now she’ll always be a 27 year old icon.

Amy Winehouse’s exhusband Blake Fielder-Civil is probably regretting the fact that he requested no money in their 2009 divorce settlement. Living in reduced circumstances apparently doesn’t agree with him, because he was just arrested with a fake gun and $4000 worth of stolen electronics in his rented car. The loot came from a home that was burglarized while the occupants were out. To no one’s surprise, he also tested positive for drugs. So Blake is back is the pokey, where he spent most of his marriage.

In her quest for a “bad girl” image, Kesha, 23, has acquired a removable gold tooth, not unlike the gold tooth Madonna sported in the early 90’s. Back in the 80’s you could buy “gold” teeth on 42nd street for around five dollars for immediate gratification. Kesha (Tik Tok) and Taylor Momsen,17, (Pretty Reckless) are hell-bent on creating debauched rockstar images for themselves by whatever means possible. They’re terrified of being regarded as white-bread pop stars like Britney Spears. Amy Winehouse is much cooler.

Much was made of the fact that Amy Winehouse ran into MIscha Barton at the popular Camden hangout The Hawley Arms the other night. The girls were observed having a drink of some kind together – although Mischa says she has given up alcohol. They both love to party, but somehow we can’t imagine these two becoming best buddies. Above they were photographed when they left – Mischa left early and was carrying a container of guacamole, and Amy didn’t get home until 11:30 A.M.

Amy Winehouse pumped up her beehive and dolled herself up in a fuchsia dress for the London premier of her boyfriend Reg Traviss’s new movie “Psychosis.” Appropriately, Reg, who wrote and directed the movie, specializes in horror and the supernatural. This particular psycho – thriller stars Charisma Carpenter and Jennifer Aniston’s ex boyfriend, Paul Sculfor. Whether Amy makes her acting debut in a Traviss production remains to be seen.

Apparently she’s become very involved with film director Reg Traviss, and her friends say she has stopped drinking and doing drugs for him. Reg, kind of a dapper looking guy, directed a well-received movie in the UK called “Joy Division.” The beehive is back and Amy seems happy – let’s hope she stays that way.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Amy Winehouse out and about and we’re happy to note the beehive’s back. Actually she looks rather normal, with no apparent blood or smeared makeup. She surprised the clientele when she sang a few impromptu songs at a mostly empty club called Jazz After Dark in London. And she seems to be in the company of an attractive man. Things are looking up.
UPDATE: The guy is Amy’s exboyfriend Tyler James. (Definitely hotter than her exhusband!)
