American Idol judge Steven Tyler maintains his rockstar look by shopping in women’s stores! The Aerosmith singer and his fiance Erin Brady shop together, but Steven likes his privacy. He has his people call ahead to upscale women’s stores and ask if Steven and Erin can have private time to shop in the store alone for HOURS. Sometimes they’re still in a boutique at midnight, trying on and piling clothes on the counter. Steven loves women’s scarves, fancy shirts, extravagant jackets, jewelry – just about everything. He always spends a lot of money on himself and Erin, so the stores are more than happy to give him private shopping time.

It’s odd. Victoria Beckham walks with her head down and doesn’t acknowledge the paparazzi as if having her picture taken is real drag. She was seen walking out of the Miu Miu store in New York and her bodyguard carried multiple shopping bags. But Victoria chose NOT to wear a coat over her pretty outfit even though it’s 30 -something degrees in New York! Actions speak louder than words.

Terrifying Vogue editor Anna Wintour giggled like a schoolgirl when she was seated in the front row of the show right next to David.

As controlling and manipulative as Madonna is known to be, she DOES have someone she turns to for a fashion opinion before she leaves the house for special occasions: her 15 year old daughter Lourdes. Lourdes is very opinionated and a surprising source of inspiration for her mother. When Madonna dressed to attend the New York premier of W.E., Lourdes was aghast and told Madonna that no respectable director would wear a corset! Madonna immediately changed into something more elegant but still dramatic (above.) Madonna ALSO keeps tabs on the music Lourdes is listening to, and it influences her creative vision. We were blown away by Madonna’s amazing Superbowl performance – tomorrow she’ll announce her new tour and we bet it’ll sell out FAST – she proved than no matter what you think of her, SHE STILL HAS IT!

DON CORNELIUS: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Don Cornelius, who took his own life yesterday, probably because of health issues, did the world a favor when he introduced his “Soul Train” dance show to TV in 1970. He revolutionized the appreciation of black music, fashion, and culture. He certainly did himself a favor too. Don became a major ladies man always clad in immaculately accessorized custom made suits. He became a fixture at the Playboy mansion parties and enjoyed flirting outrageously with pretty women at TV tapings and award shows. Fans everywhere greeted him with enthusiasm and he had an amazing life worth celebrating. (Above, get in line for Jungle Boogie, 1973, and enjoy the platform shoes and elephant bells)

Jennifer Lopez has started dressing her young boyfriend so he looks more like a man than a boy. She has obviously taken Casper Smart shopping and picked out some better clothes for him. Gone are the hip hop duds – baseball caps, hoodies, and sneakers – at least for now. Casper has a distinctly upscale look in his red trench coat as the fashionable couple arrives at their New York hotel.

You’ve gotta love Jean Paul Gaultier for keeping the image of Amy Winehouse alive. Amy was the inspiration for his latest collection because he loved not only her unique style, but the way she put her clothes together and the colors she mixed. Of course the models sashaying down the runway all had towering beehives and black eyeliner and many were puffing on cigarettes. But no beat-up ballet slippers. It made us miss Amy all over again.

ELLE MACPHERSON: IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOOK GOOD AND HAVE FUN, TOO?

Having seen the myriad of flouncy form fitting mermaid dresses on the Golden Globes red carpet, we find ourselves puzzled in many ways. Besides wondering how Angelina managed to arrive without wrinkling her dress, we cannot figure out how Elle Macpherson (who looks dazzling) and many others similarly attired, managed to actually SIT DOWN for the dinner and show. How many seats did they take up? Where did they stuff their long trains? How did they manage to attend the crowded parties with those extended trains? Also, few people realize that the temperature in the Beverly Hilton is adjusted low so that men in tuxedos don’t get too hot. (The banquet manager told us.) That means the women in strapless dresses are FREEZING. Looking pretty is NOT easy.

There’s a price to pay when you’re George Clooney’s girlfriend. Of course the perks are obvious – tropical and European vacations, shopping sprees, and good company. But part of the deal is endless red carpet events – at this time of year especially. George, 50, is committed to numerous film premiers, publicity events, film festivals, and award shows. He flies all over the USA and back and forth to Europe – sometimes for 3 or 4 major events in a week. That means his girlfriend must be red carpet ready with a different designer dress for every appearance! Since no normal woman could pull that off without help, we’re thinking George hires a stylist to dress up Stacy Keibler for all these occasions, with hair and makeup thrown in too. (Knowing George, we bet she gets to KEEP the dresses she likes.) Stacy, 32, may be exhausted, but George will always make sure she looks good at his side!

“Lovelace,” the biography of Linda Lovelace, who starred in the x-rated movie “Deep Throat,” is filming in LA, and stars Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard really have that 70’s vibe. Amanda is wearing a high waisted denim skirt and Peter’s in polyester. Men did look awful in those days! It’s odd to see people in 70’s fashions with cell phones in hand. P DIDDY’S SECURITY GUARDS DIDN’T LIKE ROSIE O’DONNELL’S FASHION

We couldn’t help but laugh when we heard that Rosie O’Donnell and six “casually dressed” friends were turned away by security guards at the door at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ fancy Miami New Year’s Eve party. We picture Rosie’s buddies as being no-nonsense hefty athletic girls like herself – dressed in t shirts, baggy shorts and crocs. No makeup or stilettos there. Uninformed guards would certainly be prone to refuse entrance to such a group – they know their boss Diddy favors sexy hot young girls. Maybe if the gals had dressed for the occasion it would have been a different story.

Not only are they on very high platforms but they lace all the way up to the top thigh. Putting them on can’t be so easy and taking them off to try something on would be a real nuisance. But she looks quite proud of her impractical footwear.
