It happened in 2000: One of Whitney Houston’s alltime favorite movies has always been the tearjerker “Love Story.” She’s hoping to update and remake the move starring herself and her husband Bobby Brown as the doomed couple originally played by Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal. Whitney realizes audiences might have a hard time swallowing Bobby as the wealthy and refined young man so she plans to switch the roles and have the female character from the right side of the tracks. She’s already working on a script and hopes to start filming before the end of the year. (As we all know, it didn’t work out….)

“Hey, J.Lo – did you forget where you came from?” That’s what some frozen ballerinas are asking after working on her new video “I’m Glad.” Lopez’s people hired 15 ballerinas to appear en pointe in the all night shoot for the paltry salary of $150. The skinny girls in pink tights were badly treated – they had to stand outside in the cold all night in downtown LA, until they were herded into an unheated basement with cockroaches. After 7 miserable hours the dancers felt cheated. They told me that former Fly Girl Jennifer started as a dancer herself and ought to treat them better. Behind her back, J.Lo’s tour dancers call hers the “Pay-Low” tour.

2001: Justin Timberlake must have been the happiest kid in town on Christmas morning. His girlfriend Britney Spears spent $100,000 on a frantic hour long shopping spree in Beverly Hills just for him. She dropped $15000 at Prada on a leather coat, luggage, and $500 combat boots. Her $50,000 purchases at Gucci included an $8000 leather jacket, a $4000 suit and a thousand dollar sterling beltbuckle. At Armani she loaded up on cashmere sweaters in every color and she ended up at Barneys gathering up a cashmere blanket, an organizer, binoculars and more clothes. Some guys have all the luck.

I happened in 1997: Ellen Degeneres has learned that “coming out” can be dangerous for your health! When she taped the first half of the infamous “Ellen” episode where her character she admits she’s gay, the studio got a bomb threat! Police came in yelling “Everybody out NOW!” and the Disney soundstage had to be immediately evacuated. Ellen and Laura Dern, who guested as her love interest, were swept into waiting cars and the audience and everyone else was herded outside while firetrucks and police with bomb sniffing dogs arrived. When the second star studded show taped security was “tighter than a leather girdle” ‑ every door was carefully guarded and each person wore an ID wristband. Dogs sniffed out the whole stage BEFORE the show started. Guests including Oprah, Demi Moore, Dwight Yoakum, Billy Bob Thornton, KD Lang, Gina Gershon, Melissa Etheridge, etc survived to celebrate Ellen’s “outing” later at a party at the Hollywood Athletic club.

2001: Michael Jackson has been pressuring Lisa Marie Presley to invest in some of his own projects. Although his own financial situation seems far from stable, he’s been bombarding his ex-wife with financial advice. Michael’s trying to convince her to invest in his latest project, a European amusement park. Lisa wants Michael’s help with her music career but not with managing her money. Keep in mind that in just a few months Lisa is set to inherit Elvis $150 million and still growing estate! So far she’s managed to squirm out of agreeing to invest in any of Michael’s schemes.

2001: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett learned the hard way that those coveted courtside front row seats at NBA games can be a health hazard! During the Lakers vs Philadelphia game two players diving for a ball crashed into the seats right on top of Jada. There was a big commotion while terrified Will helped pull the 6’10″ giants off his petite and expectant fiancee. It was a close call, but Jada wasn’t injured.

Christmas 2001: Stedman Graham must have been a especially good this year because Santa, in the form of Oprah Winfrey, has a two million dollar gift for him. Oprah’s always generous around the holidays and in the past has surprised her beau Stedman with fancy cars and designer clothes. This year she’s buying him a home, anywhere in the world he chooses. Sh’e's allowing him a million dollars for the home and another million to decorate!

1997: Contrary to what his attornies try to argue, OJ Simpson believes that his name is still worth something. Simpson, who took out a trade patent on his name, wanted to peddle products on a home shopping show. OJ offered to hawk anything from copies of his book to gloves bearing his signature but the company told him no way, no matter how much they stood to earn.

2003: Who would have guessed Drew Carey would be such a softy when it comes to decorating his bedroom? A visitor to his hillside home tells us the ceiling and walls of the bedroom are painted blue with white fluffy clouds. His bedcovers and carpet are a deep green grass color and a white picket fence is painted on the walls around the room. To top it off he has an assortment of stuffed large fuzzy sheep standing around! Not exactly a seductive boudoir – but it gets you in the mood for sleep.

2003: Executives at Britney Spears‘ label Jive Records came up with a bright idea: How about pairing Brit up with the new wonderboy of rap 50 Cent to give her a funkier image! An offer was made to the hardcore crack dealer turned superstar who said he’d consider doing it for two million dollars. But word leaked out to Eminem, who’s on the same label, and he immediately butted in and advised 50 Cent not to “sell out.” He quickly convinced 50 Cent to decline the offer with Britney, promising that by rapping TOGETHER the guys will “print money.” Eminem advised 50 Cent that he doesn’t need quick collaborations that will damage his career.

But THIS year the slimmer Kirstie nibbled on a roast beef sandwich and kept her distance from the dessert table. Also at the party, My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos revealed she’s pregnant. Ringo Starr and his wife obliviously cut in front of Jude Law in line at the buffet table after Jude had been waiting for fifteen minutes. Jude didn’t complain to Ringo, but he whispered to the waiter “I don’t care WHO he is – THAT was rude!”

Just last year, of all the celebrities at the Golden Globes, Mariah Carey had the largest entourage of bodyguards and hangers on. She was scheduled to present Best Song and before the event she asked for accommodations for her “Swami.” Event organizers were told that Mariah gets “very nervous “and needed the Swami “to calm her down.” Her group of ten or twelve people surrounded Mariah from all sides as she swept into the after-parties – making it nearly impossible to socialize – and other celebs, including Rene Zellweger, shrank back from her aggressive looking security guards.
