“DRAGON TATTOO” STAR ROONEY MARA IS BACK IN THE REAL WORLD

After a world press tour, it’s back to reality for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star Rooney Mara. She’s in Soho shopping at rag & bone with her boyfriend Charles McDowell. Charles is an aspiring actor and the son of famous parents: Malcolm “Clockwork Orange” McDowell, and Mary Steenburgen, who is now married to Ted Danson. Rooney is preparing for all the award shows she will be attending soon.

   i would hate to be an actress and have to starve myself to compete for roles. i think everyone should work out and be healthy but not pin thin.

   What a cool movie. Rooney does an amazing job. Yeah, she does look a little too thin.

   I think she did her best acting job in “The Social Network”, because she was playing herself to a certain degree.

   I haven’t seen her in anything yet because none of her movies have appealed to me yet. I’m more interested in her boyfriend (thanks, Janet). I hadn’t heard of him, but admire the holy hell out of both his parents, esp his father, who I think he resembles a bit in the eye/upper face area. You don’t get a much better actor than Malcolm McDowell.

   I must say also, that I am kind of amazed and impressed at how long Ted & Mary have remained married. He DID have a long marraige to his first wife and i never did figure out why THAT one went down, but I think it was due to him cheating. I don’t know if the Whoopi thing came after the divorce, or was the cause or it, but they sure had a hot and heavy thing going on way back when!
   Also, Whoopi has said she has only been “in love” once in her life, and it was with a white man, and my guess is it is Ted she loved so much. She does date other white men, so I could be wrong, I’m just guessing and going off memories of what was going on with them back then. Interesting (to me anyway). I’ll be keeping my eye out for this kid! Can’t wait!

   I am not going to see her remake. The original was wonderful (even though the books I found to be -eh). Luckily my son asked me to take him a few summers ago. Yes, a bit of a risky move as he was young, but a move I certainly don’t regret. I don’t get how people in America don’t appreciate foreign film. Oh, well, their loss for sure.

   (danson and mary used to house a vacationing clinton while POTUS…I’d call that being part of the 1%. And Mara, well, enough said, not that her grandmother wasn’t a doll).

    Wow, thanks for the info, Janet and Reta. I had no idea that McDowell and Steenburgen had had children, although I think I used to know that they used to be married after making “Time after Time”(?) I feel that McDowell père and Mary Steenburgen are both very talented; I’ll have to keep an eye out for Charles McDowell.

    I dont find this girl attractive or interesting. I havent seen any of her films but I watched her interviews to promote the film.
    The Swedish actress who orginally played this character did a fine job with the role.IMO, there was no reason to remake the film.
